Research Study:
Kidney Studies

• To determine how the investigational drug affects blood pressure compared to
current treatments for anemia or low red blood cell count or hemoglobin levels.
• To determine how the investigational drug is absorbed, broken down, and removed
from the body in volunteers with kidney impairment on hemodialysis.
• To determine the effect of the study drug on your low blood cell count (anemia).
• Information regarding safety and side effects that may occur will also be collected.
• This study is for research purposes only.

Method of Administration:
Oral study drug, IV epoetin alfa (also known as Procrit® or Epogen®), Aranesp® or Mircera® administered during scheduled dialysis or while in the overnight clinic.

Key Requirements to qualify for this study:

• At least 40 years old on hemodialysis
• Must have anemia (low red blood cell count or hemoglobin levels) and receiving a
red blood cell stimulating agent such as Procrit®, Epogen®, Aranesp® or Mircera®
• Currently receiving hemodialysis treatments at a dialysis center.


8 outpatient visits and 2 overnight visits over an approximate 4 month period

Qualified participants will receive study medication, study related physical exams and
laboratory tests
Compensation Qualified participants may receive up to $1,375 for time and travel.
