Research Study:
Clinical Research Study for Healthy Volunteers and Those with Liver Disease/Impairment
Purpose:

• To determine how the investigational drug is absorbed, broken down, and removed from the body
in volunteers with various degrees of liver impairment when compared to volunteers with normal
liver function
• Information regarding safety and side effects that may occur will also be collected
• This study is for research purposes only and is not intended to treat your liver disease

Single oral dose of study medication

Key Requirements to qualify for this study:

• 18 to 75 years old
• Must have liver impairment or disease such as fatty liver disease, Hepatitis C, past
history of alcohol related liver disease or cirrhosis
• Volunteers may be taking medicines such as spironolactone, Lasix® (furosemide), lactulose,
Aldactone® (spironolactone), or rifaximin
• May also have fluid in your abdomen or encephalopathy

Length/Duration:

• 6 day, 5 night stay in our research dormitory
• 1 follow-up phone call

Compensation:

Qualified partici ants will receive study medication, study related physical exams and laboratory tests

Qualified study participants may be compensated up to $1,350 for time and
travel
